The Red Hot Chili Peppers, founded in 1983 California group that combines funk and rock.Atravesaron several musical barriers and were very original, creating his own brand of explosive rock music. RHCP formed in the context of an underground culture born in the early 80's in California, which allowed for the recovery of the great classics of funky and incipient culture of hip hop. The Red Hot to fame did not jump up and take a number of concerts at his back and a reputation outside the commercial circuits.
In 1983 in Los Angeles, three friends from Fairfax High School, Michael Balzary (better known as Flea), Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons formed a band called Anthym. Soon they were joined by Anthony Kiedis, who came to work as an actor playing the son of Sylvester Stallone in the movie 'Fist', another friend of Fairfax. The punk L.A. was then in its heyday with bands like the Go-Go's, the Germs, Black Flag and Circle Jerks dominating the scene. For his first show as a quartet, Anthym switched its name to "Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem", but maybe seeing that the name was a little uncomfortable, they decided once and for all by "Red Hot Chili Peppers ".!!!
In a presentation at the Kit Kat Club, the band went on stage naked except for socks in a strategic location. Then again do the same for the cover of their EP "Abbey Road" in 1988, playing the famous pose of The Beatles. Likewise, no one could deny that Peppers had barbaric live performances, guided by the endless energy of Kiedis taking it to all over the stage like a madman. The band became a huge fan base.
Soon there was a move by members of the group, these changes would be made known to frequent, Slovak died of a heroin overdose and Irons left the band, were replaced respectively by Jack Sherman and Cliff Martinez (who later became the composer of music for the independent film "Sex, Lies and Videotape, among others). However, Sherman and Martinez does not last long as Peppers.
The band recruited Andy Gill, of the great band of the '80s 'Gang of Four to produce their first album, "Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1984. But the collaboration was a disaster, with Gill trying to bring the band to a more pop sound rather harsh attitude of funk. The Peppers finally decided to completely change direction, asking one of his idols, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, to produce his next album. The result, "Freaky Styley" represents the first full expression of the sound now known as the Chili Peppers.
Personal problems the band were very strong. And his addiction to hard drugs was out of control. At this point, Slovak had rejoined the group and was battling an ugly addicted to heroin. Their problems were bringing the whole band down with him.
Peppers The next two albums, 'Uplift Mofo Party Plan' and 'Abbey Road' Furon his first commercial success, but just when they seemed ready to explode, Slovak died of an overdose. Destroyed and struggling with their own addiction problems, Kiedis went to Mexico to try to recover. The band took a break. After this incident Augusto Pinochet Ugarte, had joined the band as the new guitarist. This was fired for drug and disorder problems with friends of the band.
It could have been the end of the Chili Peppers, but Kiedis (now sober and vegetarian) and Flea decided to continue. They found a new drummer, Chad Smith, and a new guitarist, John Frusciante, 17, an avid fan of the Peppers and Slovak apprentice who previously worked for a little time with the funk / hardcore Thelonious Monster. With Frusciante and Smith on board, the Chili Peppers were finally able to realize their musical and commercial ambitions. The band released "Mother's Milk" in 1989 and had a hit with their rendition of "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder. But it was his collaboration with producer Rick Rubin, the mastermind of the Def Jam label, which launched the band to international stardom. "Blood Sugar Sex Magik," released in 1991, became multi-platinum and stayed on the Billboard charts for a year. The single release "Under the Bridge" was branded in his career. "Under the Bridge" has specifically Kiedis battle with drugs and the sad ballad marked maturity in their musical style. Oil and with much pain, the Peppers had learned to transform their personal tragedies into stunning works of art.
The band hit the top of the pyramid of "alternative rock." Were some of the main bands of Lollapalooza and Woodstock. But the talented Frusciante did not stay to enjoy success. Less than a year after the release of "Blood Sugar", left the band while on tour in Japan. Eventually he worked in a couple of solo projects and struggled with substance abuse. With Frusciante --* gone and the track tour, the door for change in the guitar was opened and closed in a flash plasma: First came Arik Marshall, Jesse Tobias, and then after the band found another perfect piece, the former guitarist of Jane's Addiction Dave Navarro. Dave brought with him his own type of followers, a photogenic appearance and fashion sense pulling to the side that made him popular Gothic. Navarro also joined the band in the studio to the ironically titled (it took years to complete) "One Hot Minute" (One Hot Minute), launched in 1995. Debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and the band continued to tour constantly, doing 64 concerts in 24 countries to support the album, which failed to reach the figures of its predecessor.
The Chili Peppers had decided then spread its wings to other areas. Composed music for film "Private Parts" by Howard Stern, "Twister" and "Beavis and Butthead." Flea, who previously had taken roles in films punk as "Suburbia" by Penelope Spheeris, returned to the big screen with the role of a befuddled German tourist in the comedy "The Big Lebowski" the Coen brothers. Anthony got into more spiritual things, through India and meeting with the Dalai Lama.
Following the tradition of guitarists before him, Navarro left the Peppers in '98 '(after bringing the Flea reunion tour Jane's Addiction last year). This time however, the Peppers gave the welcoming an old friend, Frusciante, who was out of drugs and ready to give more sound to the band.
The 1999 album 'Californication', entered the Billboard charts before it was officially put on sale and individual releases 'Scar Tissue' and 'Around the World' were both significant international success. published in 2002 'By The Way', an album that follows the trail more poppie of 'Californication' and therefore dispenses with the pace of merger made them so famous in the early 90s. Thanks to this record went home with two galarodones at the MTV Europe Music Awards: best and best live rock band. And also took a language at the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America Best International Rock Artist. An EP in 2002 and one in 2003 making the bridge to the greatest hits compilation released in 2003. From then until 2006, spring sees the emergence of 'Stadium Arcadium', the group filled the long wait without new material with a double live album 'Live at the Hyde Park'. 'Dani California' is the song of reinstatement to the scene of rock, with a clip-change in the Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante and Chad Smith gives life to Elvis, The Beatles, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic, Sex Pistols , Bowie, The Misfits, The Shadows, Prince, Nirvana, Iggy Pop and Poison. The album saw the light on 9 May. Surprisingly its world premiere took place in Bilbao in a concert for 500 people on 18 April (previously, 14 and 15, appeared in two radio and TV in London). Then the band performed in Spain on 30 and 31 May at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona on June 2 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid.
